Edna Marie Hockenbury, 69, of Covington Route 2, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 1993 at USMC, Sager Campus, Danville, Ill. She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Montpelier, Ind. the daughter of James Roy and Lillian Cartright Ward. She attended school at Hartford City, Ind. She and her family had resided in the Tree Spring area near Covington for 25 years and prior to that in Danville from 1950 to 1968. She was employed at General Electric in Danville for 32 years. She was a member of DanGees and the Ladies of the Moose. She was married to Stanley Lawrence Hockenbury Oct 23, 1965, at Danville. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1993. Survivors include: two daughters, Carlotta (David) Ellis of Midland, Texas, and Judith Ann (Donald) Black of St. Simons Island, Ga.; two sisters, Evelyn (Delbert) Lanning of Hartford City, Ind., and Esther (Bill) Howard of Cambridge City, Ind.; and three grandsons. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Friday, Nov. 12, 1993 at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington; Officiating: Rev. Robert H. Miller; Burial: Danville National Cemetery; Visitation: noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home; Memorials may be made to the USMC, Hospice. – jlr
